STEVENS POINT — The Lincoln Center Art Gallery have announced multiple exhibits for November.
Mixed Media by Nancy Karg
Local artist Nancy Karg will display seventeen mixed media pieces in November at Lincoln Center Art Gallery. The display features works in oil, silver point, acrylic and pastel with subject including portraiture, landscape and foreign travel. Over the years, Ms. Karg has shown her art at the Riverfront Art Gallery in Stevens Point.
Woodcarving by Ron Okray
Ron Okray began woodcarving in 2003 after attending the Wisconsin River Woodcarvers show in Plover. His first carving seminar was in Boulder Junction, WI in August of that year, and has since taken over seventy five carving seminars.
In 2004, he entered a piece in the Wisconsin River Woodcarvers competition, received a blue ribbon in the novice category for that carving, and became hooked. In December of 2005, Ron began serving as treasurer of the group, and took over as show chairman when fellow woodcarver Bill Kubisiak passed away in November of 2008.
The most rewarding job he has undertaken was in 2009 when he started to teach beginning woodcarving at Lincoln Center in Stevens Point.
“It is gratifying to see how carvers with little or no experience at the beginning of the semester create pieces that they are proud to show to family and friends.” said Okray.
Mr. Okray has carved acanthus, animals, birds, caricatures, carousel horses, decoys, fan birds, flowers, relief (figures carved in a flat panel of wood), fish, and spoons.
