Stevens Point man treated for serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle

STEVENS POINT — A 57-year-old local man man is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle on Monday evening.
According to police reports, officers were sent to the intersection of Business 51 and Madison Street for reports of an accident involving a vehicle striking an individual. The vehicle was traveling northbound on 51 and hit the pedestrian in the crosswalk, who was reportedly running eastbound.
According to information obtained by traffic control, the northbound light was green.
The pedestrian was transported from the scene with significant injuries. The driver was a 50-year-old Stevens Point man.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with State Patrol personnel conducting the accident reconstruction. Northbound traffic on Business 51 has been temporarily barricaded with traffic being detoured at Patch Street to Dixon Street.
