STEVENS POINT — Planning officials moved forward on a motion to allow a new four-story apartment complex to be built on Water Street.
Cohen-Esrey Development LLC, a Kansas-based real estate firm, will construct a 49-unit apartment which will be known as the “Water Street Lofts” on the corner of Arlington Place and Water Street. This will sit close to the proposed location of the new Stevens Point City Hall.
The building will contain 49 units, (24 1BR, 15 2BR, 10 3BR) with a total square footage of 53,204 ft. It will hold 34 parking stalls. The development would have the new buidings constructed on top of the two Soik properties.
As a conditional use permit, the development will have to meet certain requirements, including the construction of a eight-foot opaque fence between neighboring residences, and one plant per thirty inches of building facing the street will need to be planted.
“This, overall, is a great project,” said Bicycle and Pedestrian Street Safety Commission member Trevor Roark.
Members voted unanimously.
A final decision will ultimate be made on the manner at this month’s common council.
