St. Paul Lutheran Bell Choir Christmas Concert 2018 announced

For the City Times
STEVENS POINT — Nothing evokes the Christmas holiday spirit like the ringing of bells. This year, the St. Paul Bell Choir continues its tradition of a free Christmas bell choir concert on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7:15 pm. The concert is held in the sanctuary of St. Paul Lutheran Church at the corner of Center Street and Wyatt Avenue in Stevens Point.
This year’s concert consists of a variety of selections, some specifically oriented toward Christmas. Others have been chosen just because they are a delight to hear. For those who look forward to Christmas carols or pieces with a madrigal sound, they won’t be disappointed by Away in A Manger, Oh, How Joyfully, Londonderry Air and English Suite. Other selections will include Peace Like a River, How Great Thou Art / Majesty, and My Song Is Love Unknown. The concert will conclude with the choir’s popular rendition of Highland Cathedral.
The choir will be joined this year by soloists Amy Culbreath on violin and Amy Sallet on flute on several of the selections. It will also be assisted by Marv Altis on piano and Cathy McLeod on drums. This year’s choir consists of 12 regular members and several returning veterans who will assist on the final piece. The St. Paul Lutheran Bell Choir has been presenting the holiday sound of bells to the general public since 2003 when it participated in the Prepare Ye! celebration.
No admission ticket is required and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
