STEVENS POINT — One of Stevens Point’s own has been nominated in America’s Favorite Crossing Guard contest.
With the assistance of Sergeant Anthony Zblewski, the Stevens Point Child Safety Center nominated Agnes Kowalski for the Safe Kids Worldwide America’s Favorite Crossing Guard contest. Kowalski is a crossing guard at Jefferson Elementary School.
Voting begins on Monday, Nov. 19 and continues until Nov. 30.
Below is the description of Kowalski on the nomination website:
Agnes has been a crossing guard for many years. She always stays positive in this job, even in the worst Wisconsin weather. Agnes takes her job as crossing guard very seriously. She is always focused on the children’s and parent’s safety in the crosswalks. When Agnes was told about this nomination, she became choked up and said that she loves being a crossing guard. The relationships she creates with the children and parents are very important to her. Agnes says that every May when school lets out for the summer, she misses the children. The 6th graders often give Agnes hugs on the last day of school as thanks for keeping them safe during their elementary school years.
