AMHERST —  The Jensen Community Center in Amherst, WI welcomes Richie Yurkovich to the Jensen Community Center for an afternoon of live polka music and dancing on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 from 2 – 5 p.m.  The program is free to all attending and will include a 50/50 raffle with beer, food and soda for purchase.

Richie Yurkovich has been providing music for polka fans for over 50 years. From the beginning, The “Richie Yurkovich” band has consisted of very talented musicians who have brought individualism, character and class to the band.

Richie “The King” Yurkovich has recorded 30 albums, owns his own recording studio, hosted many tours in the U.S. and abroad and performed across the United States. In 2001, he was inducted into the Ironworld Polka Hall of Fame. With his accordion, bass, and midi effects, he gives the band the sound for which they are known.

Gabe (Gabrielle) “The Queen” Yurkovich has been a member of the band since the 1970s as either the full-time drummer or filling in when needed. Her main instrument in high school was the saxophone and she played that many times in the early years of the band. Her outgoing personality, solid beat, and pleasing vocals make her a crowd favorite whenever she performs.

“We are excited to welcome this duo to the Amherst community and are eager to bring their talent and lively music to our Center for a fun afternoon of music and warmth in the middle of winter. We hope you consider heading to the Jensen Community Center in Amherst to join us!”
