John E. Vann, 47, passed peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his wife, Lisa, and children, on November 30, 2018, in their home in Stevens Point, after a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma liver cancer.

A Celebration of Life service for John will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church: 611 24th St N. Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Friends and family invite you to come casually in colorful attire to the visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Fellowship will follow the service. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

John was born August 1, 1971 in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of the late Ronald and BettyLou (Marble) Vann. As a child he moved with his military family during his father’s assignments, from Germany to the East Coast, finally settling in Marshfield. John graduated from Marshfield High School in 1989 and UW-Stevens Point with an accounting degree. He joined the United States Army Reserves in 1990, and was honorably discharged in 1998. He earned the Army Service Ribbon and expert Rifleman Medal while in the service. John married Lisa Wasserburger on January 1, 1994 in Marshfield, the couple moved to several different places in Central WI over the years, settling in Stevens Point four years ago. He worked at Sentry Insurance the past 12 years as a Finance Specialist Accountant III. He was loved by Sentry coworkers who adored his sarcastic humor and expertise in his field. John enjoyed spending time with his family doing his hobbies, such as whole-food plant-based cooking, woodworking, singing, and bible study. John was a 3rd degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. His best friend, John Bezlyk, shared many similar beliefs and John loved him with his whole heart.

John is survived by his wife Lisa and four children: Ethan Wasserburger (Jefferson, WI), Brady Wasserburger (Neenah, WI), Raiden Vann (Stevens Point, WI), and Maria Vann (T.J. Schultz) (Eldorado, WI.)

One granddaughter: Evelynn, Monterrey, TN. Two sisters: Catharin (Leon) Janssen and Cristina (James) Norfleet, all of Marshfield, and 18 nieces and nephews.
