Obituary: Lillian R. Rekowski

Lillian R. Rekowski, age 89, of Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on October 2, 1929 in Stevens Point, a daughter of George and Anastasia “Stella” (Kluck) Klish. The former Ms. Klish was united in marriage to Raymond Rekowski on November 27, 1948 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
Lillian worked outside the home for a few years before and after the couple’s marriage but, once their three daughters were born, she stayed at home raising their children. Lillian was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose and AMVETS Auxiliaries. Lillian hosted every family holiday gathering, cooking, baking and sharing many of her favorite recipes. Lillian was a very competitive pinochle player, was thrilled when she and Raymond would go fishing, take one of their many Crusies or travel to one of the kids or grandchildren’s school or sporting events. She loved Duke Basketball (you dared not interrupt!) but, her greatest joy was being with the five generations of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by; her daughters, Carol (John) Lake, Marilyn (Leonard) Mocadlo and Donna (Daniel) Wheeler all of Stevens Point; seven grandchildren, Renee (Jim) Koback, John (Jenny) Lake, Amy (Patrick) Blaskowski, Jennifer (Mark) Nickel, Jessica (Glenn) Rutta, Steven (Tina Johnson) Wheeler and Michael (Paige) Wheeler; 14 great-grandchildren, Casey, Derrick, Danielle, Berkley, Brayley, Braxton, Wyatt, Nolan, Samantha, Gavin, Ryley, Logan. Carter and Owen; four great-great-grandchildren, Cheyllen, Kenzlie, Bentley and Brayden; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Ray in 2016; siblings, Robert and Donald Klish, Irene Koshollek and Violet Osiedacz-Platta.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1401 Clark Street, Stevens Point at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz presiding. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30AM until the time of the mass on Thursday.
Lillian’s family would like to thank the South Point Restaurant employees and patrons for their friendship over the years, the Physicians and Nursing staff of Aspirus Wausau Palliative Care for their love and outstanding care and a very special thank you to Lillian’s neighbors, Paul and Susie, for their love, care and support that allowed her to continue to live at home.
