For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – United Way of Portage County will celebrate the end of the 2018 campaign at its annual Victory Celebration Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. at SentryWorld in Stevens Point.
The public is invited to attend the free event where LIVE UNITED-GIVE UNITED Sweepstakes semi-finalists will win one of five prizes, including a new vehicle, and where the results of the 2018 United Way of Portage County campaign will be unveiled. Pre-registration is not required, and beverages and appetizers will be available.
The finalists of this year’s LIVE UNITED-GIVE UNITED Sweepstakes will be present to test their luck – each vying for the chance to win this year’s Grand Prize, a 2019 Ford F-150 XL Super Cab 4×4, or his or her choice of five other vehicles, donated by Scaffidi Motors. Other prizes include a United Way logo inspired 14K White Gold pendant donated by Lee Ayers Jewelers and Thomas Dailing Designs; a John Deere E110 hydrostatic lawn tractor donated by Simplicity Credit Union; a 65-inch TV and Nintendo Switch package donated by Skyward; and an air travel package donated by AIG and Marathon Travel.
Event emcees Steve Martin and Carrie Dreger will invite the finalists on stage during a “game show”-like presentation.
This year’s Campaign Drive Chairs – Kathy Davies, Vikki Nason, Amber Houck, Shannon Semmerling, and Anna Weisbrod – will be on hand at the Victory Celebration to talk about their experience leading the campaign. In addition, United Way of Portage County Executive Director Sue Wilcox will thank the many individuals and organizations that helped with this year’s campaign.
Results of the United Way campaign will be unveiled with the help of Big Brothers Big Sisters program participants. This year’s campaign had a goal of $2.95 million. Those funds are distributed to 30 local programs focused on education, health, income, and community basics.
