STEVENS POINT — Members of the Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (cwACT) gathered to perform caroling classics for the community on Dec. 15, at the Portage County Health Center, and Stevens Point Winter Farmers Market.
The group assembled in unison to spread holiday glee with a melodious gusto.
“The event stemmed from our Mary Poppins cast,” said Emily Stuebs, cwACT performer and Lead Choreographer for cwACT’s fall Mary Poppins production. “And also some people from our Miracle on 34th Street production. A member suggested a little caroling to get our name out there and spread some spirit.”
Stuebs believes that the theater and arts give people an outlet for their creative energies. “Things like this give people a way to use their musical skills and find their passions,” Stuebs said.
It’s the first year the theater has put on a caroling event, but the group would be elated to make it an annual occurrence. Stuebs and her peers see small, merry events like this as a device to reach out to the community.
“We hope we can look for more venues next year,” she said. “I think it’s a great way to bring everyone together through music.”
