Obituary: Marlowe “Martie” A. Wimme

Marlowe “Martie” A. Wimme

Age; 81 of Stevens Point, died Sunday December 30, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1937, in Ripon WI. She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Margaret (Raube) Thiel. Martie attended local schools in Ripon where she graduated High School. She received her R.N. from Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh WI. Her marriage to Gerald “Gary” Wimme took place on April 18, 1959 in Ripon WI. In 1960 the couple settled in the Stevens Point area.

Martie worked for 25 years at the Rice Clinic, retiring in 1994. Her husband Gary died on May 23, 2001.

Martie enjoyed knitting and cross stitching, but her greatest love was quilting, especially with her quilting group. She loved to travel with her husband Gary and spending their winters in Arizona.  She enjoyed playing cards and bowling.  Martie was very giving and always concerned for others.

Survivors include her children; Michael (Michele) Wimme of Plover, Daniel Wimme of Stevens Point and Margaret “Peggy” (Neal) Lutz of Stevens Point.

Grandchildren; Erik Wimme, Alicia Wimme, Olivia Wimme, Nicholas (Morgan Kleifgen) Wimme, Emily  Wimme, George Wimme, Theodore Lutz, Mary Lutz and Abraham Lutz.  Great-grandchildren; Jack Wimme, Payton Wimme and Noah Wimme. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Thiel.

Funeral Service for Martie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 4, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church Stevens Point. Pastor Clay Schmit will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday at the Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and again on Friday from
