Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Stevens Point Chapter announces January meeting

For the City Times
STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Chapter of The Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will hold its monthly meeting at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 12, at Frame Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 1300 Main Street in Stevens Point.
New members are always welcome.
The purpose of CCL is to create the political will for a stable climate. To accomplish this CCL members write letters and meet with members of Congress and their aides. They also sponsor public lectures.
At monthly meetings members discuss recent events and plan future actions. There is also a monthly teleconference with other chapters. This month’s teleconference guest speaker is Amanda Ripley, journalist/reporter who digs below the oversimplified narrative to get to the deeper truths about people and society. As we engage in the difficult conversations needed to arrive at solutions to preserve a livable world, Amanda offers the tools to disrupt the intractable conflict that impedes our progress.
