Obituary: Gilbert L. “Gib” Zinda

Gilbert L. “Gib” Zinda, 83, of Stevens Point, passed away on January 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Gib was born on April 29, 1935 in Stevens Point to the late Harry and Betty (Mansavage) Zinda.
He married the love of his life, Marilyn Kostroski on August 3, 1957. Gib attended school in Stevens Point graduating from P.J. Jacobs in 1953. He entered in to the United States Army after high school and was honorably discharged.
He was a self-employed livestock dealer and snow removal business owner up until his retirement in 2009. Gilbert was a lifetime member of the Stevens Point Elks Lodge and also a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved watching college and professional sports, golfing, fishing, deer hunting and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Gib’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and he enjoyed attending their sporting events.
He is survived by; his wife of 61 years, Marilyn; his 5 children, Sheree (Tom Loomis) Hoerter, Todd (Doreen Lepper) Zinda, Bette (Bruce) Zdroik, Jeff (fiance Jennifer Clark) Zinda and Barb (Mark) Soik; eight grandchildren: Jordan Hoerter, Matt Zdroik, Amanda (Kellen) Lund, Drew and Leah Soik, Maleah, Treyton and Talie Zinda; one sister, Elaine (Dennus) Klopstein of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by; his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Zinda.
Funeral services will be at Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Burial will follow at the Guardian Angel Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
Gib was the kind of guy that you never forgot once you met him. He will be forever missed and was loved by all that knew him. Rest in peace our loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.
