STEVENS POINT — Severe winter weather systems have caused drastic flooding throughout the Stevens Point area since the start of January.
Neighborhood streets and public spaces have been affected by the frigid sleet and flurries brought about by the recent storms. St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Stevens Point was hit exceptionally hard by the whipping winds and heavy downfalls.
What was initially rain flooding has now turned to sheets of glass-like ice that blanket the graveyard’s facade and surface. Some tombstones have icy growth expanding
nearly halfway up. No critical issues are expected to arise from the flooding.
