STEVENS POINT — Portage County officials have passed a resolution which will authorize the addition of two nursing positions to the Portage County Health Care Center. (PCHCC)
In an official memo from the PCHCC, it is stated why extra nursing help is needed:
“We feel these positions are needed due to the changes in the medical health care model. The facility resident population is shifting more towards sub-acute care which in turn increases the need for additional licensed nursing services.”
No additional county funds will be appropriated for these positions, as they were allocated in the 2019 budget adoption. The cost for these positions sums to $112,450 when cost of health and retirement benefits are calculated in.
