STEVENS POINT — A recent turn over has left a vacant IT position open in the Stevens Point administration department. The city is now in search of a qualified network administrator, with an application deadline set for Jan. 22.

The issue was discussed at the Finance Committee meeting held on Jan. 14.

Applicants are encourage to send resumes. The city may enlist the aid of outside IT assistance as the search proceeds.

“We may need to have some on-going contracted services to do everything that is really needed in terms of security,” said a committee member. “Having this position turn over has opened up a larger discussion about IT. I think it has unveiled some needs.”

Stevens Point normally employs one fulltime network specialist, and a part-time IT technician to work with fire and police computer systems. It is a small, yet vital department. City officials are not concerned about the currently void position.

“It’s something we just want to put on your radar screen at this point,” a committee member said.
