Letter: Climate change is a clear and present danger

To the Editor:
Studies have shown that most people believe that global climate change is a clear and present danger. Most people would also like to do something about this problem if they felt they could. But the feeling seems to be that one person can have little impact on such a massive problem. After all, it is a global problem.
Confucius, the historical Chinese philosopher, is credited with a saying, in essence, “ Many hands make light work”, meaning that a large number of people working together, each doing their small part, can achieve great things. Think of the building of the Great Wall of China. Herein lies your method to do something to address the climate change problem. There is currently a bill before our National Congress that addresses the role of the USA in combating global climate change. It is House Resolution HR 7173.
It goes by the name of Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividends Act. Now is the opportune time to play your role. Call YOUR congressperson and ask them endorse and support this legislation. Seems like a small part to play but if everyone worked together and called their congressperson perhaps we can all be part of something great. Reversing climate change may very well be our eras greatest achievement.
