STEVENS POINT — Council members passed a speed limit reduction on West Whitney Way by Mead Park.
The ordinance will reduce the speed from 25 mph to 15 mph along West Cornell Avenue and West Whitney Way. Additional enforcement will be present in the area after the speed limit takes effect.
In addition, speed bumps, or speed tables will be installed along the way to prevent further speeding by the park. No ordinances need to be passed for these speed reduction measures to be installed.
The speed bumps/tables will be removable to make way for snow plows in winter, and will be installed sometime in the spring. While no official cost has been connected with the measure, it will come out of the city parks budget.
