Letter: Books from the Heart for Valentine’s Day

To the Editor:
Winter in central Wisconsin means it’s time for cold weather and the “Books from the Heart” book campaign.
Books from the Heart is an annual event, distributing a book to each child in grades K-2 on Valentine’s Day. It’s a wonderful way to show our students that the Stevens Point area values reading and values them as our youngest readers. These books contain a book plate with a message from the donor, or a general message of encouragement. On a day that is typically filled with candy – the gift of a book is like a treat for the brain that will have a lasting impact.
Students in the Stevens Point Area Public Schools, Pacelli Catholic Schools, St Paul Lutheran and Stevens Point Christian Academy benefit from this annual celebration of young readers. We rely on the generosity of area businesses and individual donations to keep this program going, so if you are interested in being a part of this program, contributions may be sent to Books from the Heart c/o Sally Crane Kennedy Elementary School, 616 W 2nd St, Junction City, WI 54443.
