STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point area public schools will be closed tomorrow due to inclement weather.
A winter storm warning has been issued, and is active as of 9PM through the night until Tuesday afternoon. Heavy snowfall is expected throughout the evening, and slowly diminish from west to east Monday afternoon.
The heaviest snowfall is expected in the morning hours. Total snow accumulation will range from 4-12 inches with wind gusts as high as 30 mph.
In a letter from Superintendent Craig Gerlach, he states the following to families of students in regards to the closings:
“We believe this will be the safest option for students and staff. All after-school activities scheduled in the District are also canceled.
This decision has not been made lightly, and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work together to ensure the safe transportation of our students.”
