School officials may cancel multiple days, after school activities
STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point Area Public School District officials are monitoring this week’s extreme weather conditions, and possibly might cancel multiple days worth of classes and/or after school activities.
According to an email sent to families of students, expected coming inclement weather conditions may push school officials to cancel school for Wednesday and Thursday. The email states:
“We are receiving predictions from the National Weather Service of wind chill temperatures reaching -30°F by Tuesday evening, approaching -50°F on Wednesday morning and -45°F on Thursday morning. If these predictions are accurate, our area will be under a Wind Chill Warning and the following cancellations MAY take place as safety precautions:”
The email would go on to mention the possible cancellation of all after school activities on Tuesday, cancellation of school and all after school activities on Wednesday, and cancellation of school and after school activities on Thursday.
“It is our intent to have school tomorrow, however, we will continue to monitor road conditions this evening and into tomorrow morning to assess our ability to safely transport students.”
