Weather wipes out high school sports schedule
Due to the inclement weather and sub-zero temperatures that hit Portage County, area high school sports teams had practices canceled and games postponed throughout the first part of this week.
Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH), Pacelli Catholic High School and Rosholt High School each canceled school and all after-school activities from Monday, Jan. 28, through Thursday, Jan. 31.
Amherst High School and Almond-Bancroft High School both canceled school and after-school activities Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 30, but had yet to announce a decision for Thursday.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men’s and women’s basketball teams also had their games that were previously scheduled for Wednesday moved to Thursday, Jan. 31. The men are now scheduled to play at UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m. Thursday, with the women set to host La Crosse at Berg Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Thursday.
