STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Chapter of The Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will hold its monthly meeting at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday February 9, in the Visitor Center of Schmeeckle Reserve, 2419 Northpoint Drive in Stevens Point. New members are always welcome.
The purpose of CCL is to create the political will for a stable climate. To accomplish this CCL members write letters and meet with members of Congress and their aides. They also sponsor public lectures.
At monthly meetings members discuss recent events and plan future actions. There is also a monthly teleconference with other chapters. This month’s teleconference guest speaker is Dr. Natasha DeJarnett, she is a research coordinator at the National Environmental Health Association. Her specialty areas include climate change and environmental exposures. Dr. DeJarnett received her PhD in Public Health from the University of Louisville in 2013. As a postdoc at the University, she was awarded a fellowship by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to investigate cardiovascular risks of air pollution exposures. She also serves on the board of Citizens’ Climate Education.
