VIDEO: SPASH boys hockey holds off Rapids

Highlights and post-game interview with juniors Barrett Brooks and Dayne Hoyord of the sixth-ranked Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) boys hockey team, following the Panthers’ win over Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at K.B. Willett Arena Saturday, Feb. 2.
Brooks scored with 1:20 left in the first period to give SPASH a 1-0 lead, while Hoyord, Nick Norrgran and Jake Minch each had a goal in the second period to push the Panthers’ lead to 4-0 with 2:31 to go in the period.
Rapids (8-12-0, 1-7) scored seven seconds later to make it 4-1, then had a pair of goals in the third period to close within 4-3, before SPASH held on for the 4-3 win to improve to 17-2-2 overall and 7-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC).
The Panthers are set to host ninth-ranked Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha (15-3-2) at K.B. Willett Arena at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, then will play at third-ranked Wausau West (17-3-1, 8-0) at Marathon Park at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, with a chance to tie for the lead in the WVC.
