STEVENS POINT — The League of Women Voters recently had candidates from the District 9 and school board primary races on Feb. 19 answer three important questions regarding their candidacy. All answers are verbatim below.

Brief Bio
Ann Vang, 33, grew up in Stevens Point. Ann attended K-12 in the Stevens Point school district and graduated from SPASH in 2003. She earned her associates degree from Mid State Technical College. Ann has 6 children all five school age children attend schools in the district.
Why are you seeking public office?
Happy teachers, healthy kids, bright futures is the the slogan for Vang On Board. Ann believes that there needs to be more investment in existing teachers and staff. The health and well-being of the students is also important. There are gaps in the district’s approach to mental health, especially students of color.
What are the biggest issues facing the school board in the coming years?
Some challenges include salary, mental health for students and standardized testing.
