STEVENS POINT — The League of Women Voters recently had candidates from the District 9 and school board primary races on Feb. 19 answer three important questions regarding their candidacy. All answers are verbatim below.

Ed Morganroth

Brief Bio

I’m a 23 year resident of the community with two kids going through the district.  I currently work in the insurance industry and have for over 30 years in the areas of claims and finance.  I served on the school board from 2007-2010, prior to that I was a citizen member on various school board committees for 4+ years, and presently serve as a citizen member on a board committee.

Why are you seeking public office?

I like to be involved in my community and believe I can make a positive difference with my experience. I believe my prior school board experience and extensive prior committee service as a citizen over the last 10+ years provide an excellent background. I also have strong business and financial experience which I think is an asset. Additionally, I recognize the importance of and value all the various district constituencies.

What are the biggest issues facing the school board in the coming years?

— Implement the two school district referendums as detailed to the community, ensure the district is a good and efficient steward of taxpayer monies that the community has entrusted the district with.
— Review the curriculum, are we meeting the needs of students in 2019 and beyond? Not just 4 year college bound students – all the students.
— Look at our student counseling program, ensure we’re preparing and motivating every student to be successful post HS graduation. Do they have a plan? Can we measure how our students are performing post-graduation? Are they working toward their career/life goals?
