Stevens Point declares snow emergency

STEVENS POINT — City officials have declared a snow emergency for the area.
A news release with pertinent information and a the snow emergency resolution is below.
“WHEREAS, the Stevens Point area has recently had or is presently anticipating having a heavy snow storm and/or blizzard conditions, and
WHEREAS, weather conditions may impair transportation, including but not limited to providing the community with police, fire, ambulance and rescue services, and
WHEREAS, the clearing and removal of snow from streets is necessary and expedient for the health, safety, welfare and good order of the City, and elimination of parking on City streets will expedite snow clearing and removal, and
WHEREAS, Section 9.05 (q)(4) of the Revised Municipal Code of the City of Stevens Point and Section 349.13(1e)(c) 2 of the Wisconsin Statutes authorize the Mayor emergency powers under such conditions, now therefore,
I, Mike Wiza, Mayor of the City of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, do hereby declare and proclaim a SNOW EMERGENCY in effect.
SNOW EMERGENCY begins Monday, February 11th, 2019 at 11:00 p.m.
SNOW EMERGENCY expires Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at 7:00 a.m.
No person may park, stop or leave standing any vehicle upon any street or any portion of streets in the City of Stevens Point.”
