STEVENS POINT — Director of Public Works Scott Beduhn gave an update on the Stanley Street project, which total costs are coming in lower than expected.

The initial cost, which includes traffic control, signage, removals, labor, and the cost of a striper that can use waterborne paint would run around $72,800. However, while specific quantities relating to the project have yet to be determined, Beduhn outlined the total cost of the project.

He estimates that paint and labor will run around $3,000, and the cost of a scarifier to be a little above $7,000. The cost of the striping equipment ran approximately $47,000.

“We’re estimating conservatively, an annual savings of about $12,000 a year versus contracting out to do that,” said Beduhn. “So it wont take very many years to pay off that piece of equipment.”

The highly contested project will begin in the spring.
