Stevens Point area craft beverage makers to be featured on ‘Discover Wisconsin’

STEVENS POINT – On Tuesday, March 5, the public is invited to attend the premiere party and early screening of the Discover Wisconsin episode, ‘Wisconsin Craft Beverages – Raise a Glass!’. The event will be held at CREATE portage county’s IDEA Center and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the first look will run at 6:00 p.m.
“This was a great opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Central Wisconsin Craft Collective, and what makes them stand-out,” said Sara Brish, Executive Director of the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The show features the rich culture of craft beverages that encompasses a long list of places to check out throughout the state. Hosts Mariah Haberman and Eric Paulsen visit three major craft beverage hubs in Wisconsin, including the Stevens Point Area, La Crosse and Ripon.
The Stevens Point Area’s segment begins with Eric making his way to the Stevens Point Brewery, which has been brewing continuously since 1857, for an inside look at their beer, cider and soda products. Then, Eric heads to Plover to learn the science and art behind the craft spirits from Great Northern Distilling, including a seat and a sip at their Mixology Bar. The episode continues with Mariah heading to Sunset Point Winery for a look at the inspiration behind the flavors at this growing family-owned winery in Stevens Point. Next, she travels to Amherst to learn the craft beer story behind Central Waters one of the nation’s most environmentally sustainable breweries, before trying a bourbon barrel-aged beer. The episode wraps up, in downtown Stevens Point during a Central Wisconsin Craft Collective Tourism Takeover at a Levitt AMP Music Series concert at Pfiffner Pioneer Park.
The Discover Wisconsin episode, ‘Wisconsin Craft Beverages – Raise a Glass!’ will air the weekend of March 23-24. In central Wisconsin, you can watch the episode on WAOW Channel 9, on Saturday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. The episode will reach Discover Wisconsin’s broadcast network of 600,000 viewers across the upper Midwest region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Upper Michigan. The Central Wisconsin Craft Collective links several breweries, wineries and a distillery all located in the Stevens Point Area.
