Community Foundation Announces New Funds

For the Gazette
STEVENS POINT – The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin has announced the launch of three new funds working to address community needs throughout Portage and Waushara Counties.
Friends of Emerson Park Fund
The Friends of Emerson Park Steering Committee opened a Pass-Through Fund to help raise funds to improve the neighborhood park on the former Emerson School site in Stevens Point. Emerson School was built in 1892 and demolished in 2001. Emerson Park is two acres of open space set in the midst of Stevens Point’s urban core and adjacent to its historic district. The Friends of Emerson Park believe open spaces and public parks bring value to the neighborhood and community.
Plover Whiting Youth Athletics Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was formed by Plover Whiting Youth Athletics (PWYA) in order to provide a scholarship to a Portage County resident attending their first year at a university or tech school with at least a six year involvement with PWYA as a player, umpire or coach.
Waushara County Animal Shelter Fund
The Waushara County Animal Shelter was started by a group of concerned animal lovers when they realized there was a lack of resources in Waushara County for stray and missing pets. Cofounders, Dr. Kristina Mott and Lea Falk, decided to open a Pass-Through Fund to help raise funds for the animal shelter they hope to open in late 2019.
