Letter: Tori Jennings is a keeper for District 1 Alder

To the Editor:

On April 2 there will be a city election for alderpersons of odd-numbered Districts in the City of Stevens Point.  I am supporting Tori Jennings for District 1 Alder.  Tori has the experience, education and motivation to continue her excellent performance.

Tori is completing her first 2-year term as Alder in the City of Stevens Point.  She serves on the Board of Public Works and Historic Preservation/Design Review Commission.  She has the rare combination of teacher, community activist, and was a firefighter for 13 years (Captain for Littleton Fire Department, CO).

She has a keen sense for the environment and encourages alternate modes of transportation to reduce our carbon footprint.  She was the original Chair of the Stevens Point Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

Tori spear-headed “Cycling Without Age-Stevens Point”.  This non-profit raised over $38,00 to purchase four “trishaws” built for adults who can no longer ride a bicycle.  In their first year “pilots” pedaled over 1,450 miles and gave rides to over 700 passengers.

Tori publishes a regular newsletter full of information for her constituents.  As District 1 Alder she has been an advocate for quality infill redevelopment that builds wealth and long-term economic stability.  During her tenure, Stevens Point has had the best couple years of new construction in the past decade.

No matter how you view her performance for the City of Stevens Point, Tori Jennings is a “keeper”.  Let’s continue to support a solid performer for our City.  Vote for Tori Jennings on April 2.
