Tomorrow River Concerts Presents Harmonious Wail

For the Gazette
AMHERST —The long-running Tomorrow River Concert series is pleased to welcome Harmonious Wail to the stage of the Lettie Jensen Community Center in Amherst on March 9 at 7:30 p.m.
According to their website, Harmonious Wail is “Americana-flavored Gypsy Jazz on full tilt! Harmonious Wail combines the searing wit, humor, and mandolin virtuosity of vintage Jethro Burns performances, the Continental panache of Django, and charm of Edith Piath inspired vocals to create a unique musical journey.”
The group formed more than 30 years ago and has toured extensively with tours of Ireland, Europe, and elsewhere. They’ve been featured on National Public Radio numerous times.
Their online bio reads, “Harmonious Wail is Sims Delaney-Potthoff, a mandolin virtuoso, bandleader, vocalist and master of all things behind the curtain; Maggie Delaney-Potthoff, vocalist extraordinaire whose percussive instrument of choice is a cardboard box, but who also has a knack for exploring the musicality of almost any household object; and Jeffo Weiss, master bassist who dazzles and mesmerizes on both upright and electric bass.”
You can learn more about the group at https://wail.com.
Tickets for the show are available in advance at the Jensen Community Center, 487 N. Main St., Amherst and on the Center’s website at lettiejensencenter.org; as well as at the Stevens Point Co-Op and Kindred Spirit Books, both in Stevens Point; and in Waupaca at The Bookcellar. General admission is $15 and tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.
