UWSP receives NCAA Tournament bid, opening-round bye
The top-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s hockey team received a Pool C (at-large) bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament when the brackets were unveiled Monday, March 4.
The Pointers (26-0-2) will have an opening-round bye, then host the winner of defending National Champion and fourth-ranked St. Norbert (22-4-3) and sixth-ranked Augsburg (Minn.) (21-3-3) in a NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal at K.B. Willett Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
Tickets for the quarterfinal game will go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday, March 11. Advance tickets can be purchased at the University Information and Tickets Office in the Dreyfus University Center, online at tickets.uwsp.edu, or by calling 715-346-4100.
All tickets for UWSP men’s hockey games will be reserved seats at $10 per ticket, with the exception of 400 student tickets at $4 each for students of the competing institutions.
With the recent trend of sell-outs at K.B. Willett Arena, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
UWSP men’s hockey season ticket holders will have the opportunity to renew their same seats from the regular season at $10 per ticket. Deadline for season ticket holders to reserve their seats from the regular season will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 13. Any unclaimed season tickets at that point will be released for sale to the public.
Parents and family ticket holders who received comp tickets in the regular season must now pay for their seats at $10 per ticket and must be purchased by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, or those seats will be sold to the public.
The Pointers enter the NCAA Tournament as the only unbeaten team in the country, while the rest of the tournament bracket is available here.
UWSP tied St. Norbert 1-1 on the road Nov. 17, while the Pointers won 3-1 at home over then-fourth-ranked Augsburg Jan. 11.
