For the City Times

STEVENS POINT — The Central Wisconsin Apartment Association (CWAA) will host a city council candidates forum on March 13.  The forum is open to all area landlords and is free of charge.

The spring election will be held Tuesday, April 2.  Six city council seats representing odd-numbered districts are up for election this year.  Four of those seats are contested.

Each candidate will be given time to speak on talking points provided to them.  Those talking points are:

  • What is your view of the housing market in Stevens Point?
  • What are some housing concerns you would like to see addressed?
  • What are your thoughts on the current rule of 2 unrelated per rental unit?
  • In what ways could city/landlord relations be improved?
  • What are your thoughts on future housing developments?

Prepared questions will be presented by the moderator as time allows.

CWAA members are landlords with residential rental properties in Portage County.  CWAA is committed to educating landlords on best practices in operating a rental business legally, ethically and profitably.  It also provides marketing and other services to members.

CWAA does not endorse any candidate.  Landlords are impacted by local ordinances, zoning regulations, inspections, and building codes, to name just a few.  CWAA is offering this forum as an opportunity for landlords to learn more about the candidates and their viewpoints.

The forum will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the meeting room at Rookies Sports Bar, 3425 Church Street in Stevens Point.
