Whiting officials pass on purchasing surplus property

WHITING — Planning officials have passed on the option to purchase property from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The property in question, located at 2326 Post Rd. (formerly Precision Glass), would have cost the village $192,000. The land current serves as Wisconsin DOT surplus property.
The village would have had to use the property for strictly public use, and at the steep cost of $192,000, officials simply saw no use for it. If passed, the property will be up for sale for interested parties with surplus land deed restrictions.
A final decision will be made on the matter at this month’s village board.
