STEVENS POINT — Council members approved the installation of a fiber optic cable extension project on Monday night for the school district.
The project was awarded to Elexco, of Seymour, Wis. in the amount of $1,329.365.50. The city acted as a contractor to solicit bids for this project for the school system. No city funds will be used for this approval.
“The important thing to note here is that these are pass-through costs; this is not a borrowed cost that were coming up with out of any borrowing fund.” said Public Utilities Director Joel Lemke.
Elexco will perform the work on behalf of the city, though the school district will take on the costs.
