STEVENS POINT/PLOVER — Shopko has announced today that they will close all of their remaining stores by the summer.
Initial efforts had the company attempt to find a buyer, but were unable to do so. As a result, Shopko will wind down operations leading to a total summer closure.
According to a news release, the company will no longer move forward with an anticipated auction, and liquidation will finish in 10-12 weeks.
“This is not the outcome that we had hoped for when we started our restructuring efforts,” said Russ Steinhorst, Chief Executive Officer. “We want to thank all of our teammates for their hard work and dedication during their time at Shopko.”
While Stevens Point and Plover Shopkos are already slated for closure, many Shopko locations throughout Wisconsin remained open. The company has stated that they are evaluating options for what to do with their optical centers.
