Man in custody after Pine Grove stabbing

PINE GROVE — A local man is in custody after stabbing another man in the Town of Pine Grove.
According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, at 8:49 p.m. on March 25, the Portage County Communications Center received a report of a disturbance at 8563 Pine Street in the Town of Pine Grove. An altercation resulted in one male being stabbed.
After arriving to the scene deputies would find a 19-year-old male suspect being physically restrained by a family member. The 20-year-old victim was treated by EMS personnel and transferred to the Marshfield Medical Center via Spirit Medical Transport helicopter, and is expected to survive. Both men involved are from the Town of Pine Grove.
The suspect in question has been identified as Urian Lopez, and was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Portage County Jail. Authorities have identified that no further threat to the public exists at this time. According to deputies, both men involved knew each other before the altercation.
The Portage County Ambulance Service, the Bancroft Fire Department and Bancroft Emergency Medical Responders also responded to the scene. Lopez has a bail/bond hearing scheduled for this afternoon.
