STEVENS POINT — A name that has become synonymous with trivia success over the years has been “Dad’s Computers.”
A parody of the business Mom’s Computers, owned by “Trivia Oz” Jim Oliva, Dad’s Computers features a crew of nearly three dozen members, founded originally in 1978. Initially founded by Rick Bamberg, his daughter Patricia (Bamberg) Johnson currently captains the squad, and has since 1999.
Her husband Adam Johnson joined the team in 2001, and credits the recent success of the team to one simple idea: preparation.
“Hard work and year-round prep. There are quite a few members on our team that really dont take any days off doing trivia stuff, sort-to-speak,” said Johnson in an interview with the Gazette. “They eat, drink, sleep trivia and it consumes most of their free time. Whether it’s tracking down sources of past questions, taking notes on old & current TV’s, and movies – whatever they think needs to be done, they do.”
The World’s Largest Trivia Contest, Trivia 5-0, takes place from April 12-14. For more information o the history and teams, check out https://www.90fmtrivia.org/
