Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) announced that Molly Williams has been hired as its new volleyball head coach.

A 2013 SPASH graduate, Williams takes over for Julie Johnson, who resigned from the position this spring.

“When I set out to find the next coach of our SPASH Panthers,” said SPASH athletic director Michael Blair in a statement, “I sought a hard-working, laser-focused head coach who personifies our core values; who knows what success looks like; who is passionately committed to winning; and who is at ease with being the face of our volleyball program. Molly exemplifies these attributes.”

Williams played for Johnson at SPASH, and spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach on her staff.

Williams was an Honorable Mention All-Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) selection for SPASH as a junior in 2011, and a Second Team All-WVC selection as a senior in 2012, when the Panthers made back-to-back trips to Sectionals.

“We are very excited to welcome Molly as part of our SPASH head coaching staff and look forward to her leading our volleyball program,” said Blair.

Williams is a 2017 graduate of UW-La Crosse, and currently teaches 3rd grade at Madison Elementary School in Stevens Point.
