STEVENS POINT — Portage County Business Council members visited the Pain Relief Center & Oxygen Bar for their official ribbon cutting ceremony on April 9.
An open house followed the ceremony, where Amy Jo Rogers, owner, was pleased to meet and speak with interested future clients. The holistic healing center offers locals new alternatives to their current health-care systems. Rogers, a Stevens Point local, is a professionally trained healer with an impressive list of certifications and accomplishments.
While her background has a foundation in physical therapy, she now focuses on alternative modes of healing, to better accommodate her patients in an area where holistic healing is still an emerging market.
“I left physical therapy so that I could be free to provide the services people need instead of simply treating patients according to insurance requirements,” Rogers said in an interview with the Gazette. “I correct the underlying cause of a person’s pain and teach them how to take care of their body so that it doesn’t become a recurring problem.”
Rogers is the only myoskeletal therapist in the city and is also a certified myofascial release and lymphatic drainage massage specialist. Her diverse skills also allow her to offer healing assessments, and much more to potential clients. The Pain Relief Center & Oxygen Bar also offers pure oxygen treatments for curious residents looking for something new.
“When you give every cell more oxygen, the health benefits can be quite profound,” Rogers explained. “Benefits everyone gains are increased circulation, energy and concentration. It also helps the immune system and aids in digestion and detoxification.”
Rogers feels her new healing center “fills a gap” between the mainstream medical field and what people “need.” She sees holistic solutions as viable outlets for those in pain.
“I believe that the best medicine a person can have is being taught how not to need it,” Rogers said. “Holistic health providers teach clients how to care for their bodies, and we look at the cause and prevention of disease, not the management of symptoms.”
