Seniors Zach Zimmerman and Nate Helms from the Pacelli Catholic High School baseball team, following their doubleheader against Division 2 sixth-ranked Adams-Friendship at Bukolt Park Saturday, May 4.
The Cardinals (10-4, 6-1) won the first game 2-1, as sophomore Kaydin Mayek struck out two, walked two and allowed one earned run on eight hits over seven innings for the complete-game victory, while senior Brad Raflik had a RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to break a 1-1 tie and score Mayek with the eventual game-winning run.
Adams-Friendship (12-3) won the second game 13-1 in five innings, after it led 3-0 heading into the top of the third inning, when it scored six runs to take control with a 9-0 lead.
Raflik took the loss after he struck out two, walked five and allowed seven earned runs on six hits in two and 2/3 innings, while Zimmerman was 2-for-3 to lead the offense.
Pacelli is scheduled to play Wausau Newman in a nonconference game at Memorial Park in Plover Monday, May 6, and then play at Almond-Bancroft at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
