Stevens Point Celebrates Arbor Day

STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point will celebrate Arbor Day on Tuesday, May 7h 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the old Emerson School site (Ellis St & East Ave). Mayor Wiza, along with city forestry personnel, and area residents will help plant five trees.
The five trees will be planted along Ellis Street bordering the site. Four amur maackia and one red oak will be planted. Wisconsin Public Service is funding the planting of the five trees.
The National Arbor Day Association has recognized the City of Stevens Point as a Tree City USA for the 38th year. To qualify to be a Tree City USA, municipalities must have a Tree Board, adopt a Community Tree Ordinance, have Community Forestry Program, and have an Arbor Day Celebration.
