Coming off a 6-0 loss at Division 2 second-ranked Kewaskum Saturday, May 4, the Division 4 second-ranked Cardinals (11-3) fell 10-6 to Oconto Monday.
Junior left fielder Madison Hintz hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to cap a four-run rally that gave Pacelli a 4-0 lead, but Oconto scored one run in the second inning and two in the third to pull within 4-3, before it pushed across five runs in the top of the fourth inning to go up 8-4 on the way to the 10-6 win.
The Cardinals finished with 12 hits in the loss, as Raflik went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Hintz was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, senior pitcher/third baseman Karah Kluck went 2-for-3 with a double, and sophomore shortstop Sami Miller was 2-for-3.
Kluck took the loss after she allowed four earned runs on six hits, walked six and struck out six in four and 2/3 innings, while Raflik didn’t allow an earned run on two hits, struck out four and walked none in two and 1/3 innings, as Oconto took advantage of five Pacelli errors to score six unearned runs.
