New priest assignments announced for Portage County

PORTAGE COUNTY — Catholic Diocese of La Crosse Bishop William Patrick Callahan has announced that several priests will be taking on new assignments, effective July 2.  

Father Jeffrey W. Hennes, Pastor of St. Adalbert Parish in Rosholt and St. Mary Parish in Torun, will become Pastor of St. Stephen Parish and St. Joseph Parish in Stevens Point, with residence at St. Stephen Parish rectory.

Father Fernando E. Lara Hernandez, who has served as Associate Pastor of St. Joseph and St. Stephen Parishes is appointed Associate Pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Sparta and St. John the Baptist Parish in Summit Ridge.

Father Charles J. Richmond, Associate Pastor of St. Bronislava Parish in Plover and Chaplain at Pacelli Middle School and High School in Stevens Point, will become Parochial Administrator of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Viroqua.

Deacon Brandon A. Guenther, upon his ordination to the priesthood, will succeed Fr. Richmond as Associate Pastor of St. Bronislava Parish and Chaplain at Pacelli Middle School and High School, with residence at the parish rectory.

Father Gregory A. Michaud, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia and Immaculate Conception Parish in Custer, takes over as Pastor of St. Wenceslaus Parish in Milladore, St. Michael Parish in Junction City and St. Bartholomew Parish in Mill Creek, with residence at St. Wenceslaus Parish rectory in Milladore.

He follows Father John Ofori-Domah, who becomes Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Kendall, St. Patrick Parish in Elroy and St. John the Baptist in Wilton.

Father Alan M. Guanella, upon completion of graduate studies in canon law, is appointed Parochial Administrator of Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia and Immaculate Conception Parish in Custer, with residence at Sacred Heart Parish rectory in Polonia.
