Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) sophomore Logan Schulfer announced last week that he has verbally committed to play for the NCAA Division 1 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) baseball team.
A pitcher and catcher for SPASH, Schulfer’s fastball was clocked at 89 miles per hour in February.
In four appearances on the mound in the Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) this season as a sophomore, Schulfer is 2-0 with one save and a 0.46 ERA, as he has struck out 17, walked seven, and allowed one earned run on nine hits over 15 and 1/3 innings.
Last summer as a 15-year old, he was named Second Team All-Wisconsin Valley Legion League as an outfielder for the 19U Plover Black Sox American Legion Baseball team, and also served as one of the team’s top pitchers, as the Black Sox reached the AAA State Tournament.
Schulfer’s older brother Austin pitched at UWM for four seasons from 2015 to 2018 and finished as the school’s all-time strikeout leader, before he was selected in the 19th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins, and currently plays for the Twins’ Single A affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
