Local union releases statement on Donaldson layoffs
For the Gazette
Twenty nine to hundreds of union employees will be affected
STEVENS POINT — Early today, the layoffs of potentially 200+ employees from Donaldson Inc. was made public. The following release is from the United Auto Workers Local 2020 in its entirety:
“On Monday, our UAW membership in Stevens Point at Donaldson were informed by the company that 29 of us were going to be laid off, along with a long-term plan by management to lay off additional people over the next 2 years.
We are obviously very concerned as to what the impact will be on the families affected, the community, and our work family. The UAW is committed to jointly seek out all of the resources available, such as dislocated worker services, to provide assistance throughout this entire timeframe.
There is a contractual process that the hourly employees have with management to ensure the effects are handled fairly, as bargained. Both Donaldson and the UAW have committed to stay in constant contact to work through all issues as they come forward. We, as workers represented by the UAW, will continue to be a strong voice for our people and the community.”
