The Central Wisconsin Men’s Golf League had its first go around at Glacier Wood Golf Course in Iola this season, and despite some outstanding weather the course got the better of most of the teams after two weeks of rainouts.

In the Stricker Division Wednesday, May 15, the low round in the two man net best ball play was turned in by a pair of teams with Rookies Sports Pub and Hacker Backers each posting a 126 score on the par 71 layout. They managed a tie while Midwest Hardware beat Jordan Bar, Big Apple Bagels beat Jordan Bar and Hilltop Too knocked off Point After/Cozy Kitchen.

In the Kelly Division, Matero’s fired the low round of the day with a 122 to beat Partners Pub, while Two Harps Pub knocked off Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint, and Backwoods Bar was a winner over Hilltop Pub & Grill.

Low rounds included a 73 from Tom Shafranski, Tom Habel with a 75, Jim Berg 76, Doug Bruder 77 and Chris Field a 78.

Low net rounds included Bruder at 68, Shafranski and Terry Stanislawski at 69, Dave Mathias and Adam Engebretson at 70 and at even par 71 were Habel, Keith Ringberg, Berg, Field and Jim Mosey.

The Standings now show Rookies Sports Pub leading the Stricker Division with nine points. Hacker Backers and Big Apple Bagels are tied with five points, Midwest Hardware at 4.5 points, Hilltop Too four, Jordan Bar three and Point After/Cozy Kitchen with 1.5 points.

In the Kelly Division Backwoods Bar leads with six points, Hilltop Pub & Grill and Matero’s each had 5.5, Two Harps Pub four, Partners Pub two and Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint with 1.5 points.

This Wednesday, May 22, play continues at Foxfire Golf Club in Waupaca.
