Sharks eliminated from playoffs

Plover native Joe Pavelski and the San Jose Sharks were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a loss to the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals Tuesday, May 21.
The best-of-seven series was tied 1-1 going into Game 3 in St. Louis Wednesday, May 15, as San Jose trailed 4-3 late in the third period when Pavelski assisted on a Logan Couture goal with 1:01 to play in regulation to tie the game at 4-4, and the Sharks won on a Erik Karlsson goal 5:23 into overtime to give the team a 5-4 victory and a 2-1 series lead.
St. Louis followed with a 2-1 win at home Friday, May 17, to even the series at 2-2, then won Game 5 at San Jose 5-0 Sunday, May 19, to take a 3-2 series lead.
Pavelski suffered an injury on a hit in the third period of Game 5 and he didn’t play in Game 6 Tuesday night, as St. Louis won 5-1 to win the series 4-2 and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Pavelski is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, and finished the playoffs with four goals and five assists in 13 games, after he tied for 14th in the NHL with 38 goals, and had 26 assists and 64 points during the regular season.
