STEVENS POINT — A lifelong dream has come true for SPASH Senior Paige Proctor.
The fourth year academic award winner was accepted into Harvard and will begin a new adventure at the Ivy League school this fall. With Proctor’s work in the Future Business Leaders of America, and an active life outside of school, she will ready herself for a trip to Cambridge, Mass. to attend one of the country’s most decorated colleges.
“Harvard has always been a dream school, but I hadn’t really sat down and fed the fantasy too much.” said Proctor.
Even though Harvard was her first choice, Proctor applied for a few other schools as well. When she received her acceptance letter, Proctor says that the news was met with “disbelief, but excitement”.
Proctor will have the opportunity to do research with Harvard professors in her chosen major of Integrative Biology. Such research could potentially take her overseas.
With a background in showing cattle for competition, as well as a deep family background in agriculture and raising beef cattle, it’s might come as little surprise that biology would be her chosen field.
However, Proctor remains humble in her achievement, and wishes to keep her spirit close to home in her future successes.
” I just want to be happy and stay close to my roots, but also see where this really incredible opportunity takes me.”
